SMS/Text Communication Phase I
This project will add the ability to distribute mass texts to identified target lists, individual conversational texting, and will incorporate text sends as an option in existing Marketing Cloud JourneyBuilder automations. This project will be implemented at the foundational level. It is not exclusive to any single adoption pillar and available as a core platform feature set with standardized processes and mechanisms to provide the most extensible capabilities possible. Appropriate usage policies and practices must be established for those units using mass SMS/Text as a channel. As this is a Marketing Cloud feature, this will not change any current features in the CRM.
When completed, this project will enable users of Marketing Cloud to:
- Create, save, and edit individual text messages in MC
- Send personalized text messages to individual recipients
- Make individual text messages with tailored content per send
- Create text messages from out-of-the-box templates
- Mass distribute SMS messages to designated target lists
- Pre-set mass sends to designated lists with automatic scheduled distribution
- Create response messages per mass SMS send
- Assign specific response message to individual mass sends
- Response messages that automatically distribute if recipient replies (optional)
- Triggered text sends at appointed workflow steps to recipients in JourneyBuilder (send actions will not impact other Journey workflow functions)
- Batch file upload of distribution lists
- Manage established distribution lists, add/remove
- Use Salesforce Campaigns for distribution lists
- Use all out-of-box MC Reports for SMS/Text
Safeguards and security built into this project include:
- Opt-in management associated to individual Short Codes
- Recipient ability to opt out via keywords
- Recipient ability to opt-in via web forms tied to specific Short Codes
- User ability to manage recipient opt-in/out status via MC
- End User Security Model to determine appropriate use security practices and develop necessary Marketing Cloud User Roles
Note: Objectives correspond to pre-identified deliverables, are identified for approved scoping, and may not be inclusive. Refinement and potential expansion will occur throughout project discovery phases. All changes with significant impact to the project scope will need review and approval by identified Change Control.
