Content Block Types and Recommended Uses
Content blocks let you build consistent, branded emails in Marketing Cloud without needing to code. Each block type serves a specific communication purpose — from highlighting key messages to structuring layout and visual hierarchy.
Alerts
Use Alerts to communicate urgent or critical information, such as warnings, policy updates, or time-sensitive announcements.
Always place alerts near the top of your email for visibility.
Use sparingly — overusing alerts can reduce their impact.
Example: “Important: Scheduled Maintenance on November 12.”
Buttons
Buttons are visually styled links used to drive clear calls to action.
Keep button text short and action-oriented (Register Now, Learn More).
Callouts and Pull Quotes
These blocks draw attention to key information or highlight meaningful quotes.
Callouts emphasize critical takeaways or summary statements. Use only once per email for maximum effect.
Pull Quotes feature quotations or testimonials that add credibility or context to your message.
Events
The Events blocks showcase upcoming events or webinars.
Options include:
A simple list of events with dates.
A single featured event with title and date.
A detailed layout including date, time, location, and registration link.
Ideal for newsletters, community updates, or promotional campaigns.
Hero Images and Headlines
Hero blocks create a strong visual introduction to your email.
Combine a large image with a clear headline to capture attention immediately.
Use for major announcements, campaigns, or lead stories.
Keep text minimal
Short Bio
Use the Short Bio block to introduce a person such as an author, speaker, or featured team member.
Include a name, title, and brief description.
Add a “Read More” link for a full profile or website bio.
Signatures
Signature blocks personalize your message and create a professional close.
Choose from layouts with or without photos, handwritten signatures, or contact details.
Dual signature options are available for emails coming from multiple senders.
Spacer Blocks
Spacer blocks make it easy to add consistent vertical spacing between sections.
Available in preset sizes (5, 10, 20, or 30 pixels).
Use them instead of adjusting padding or margins manually for cleaner layouts.
Stats
Stat blocks visually highlight key numbers or metrics.
Combine a large number with a short explanatory blurb and optional link.
Use for impact statements, milestones, or campaign results.
Story Snippets
Story Snippet blocks provide a short teaser for longer articles or updates.
Include a headline, summary text, and link to the full story.
Great for newsletters and blog roundups where you want to encourage click-throughs.
Text
Text blocks are the foundation for written content in your email.
Use for paragraphs, bulleted or numbered lists, and simple tables.
Keep text scannable with short paragraphs
